Blue Note Las Notas (2022 Release)

Nose

This bourbon has a big and bold aroma that bursts with scents of cherry, brandy, and stone fruit. It has a strong balsamic vinegar note that is quite potent and adds a lovely depth and complexity to the nose.

Palate

Upon tasting, the first wave of flavor hits with notes of plum, black cherry, and a faint hint of molasses. As the flavor evolves, it begins to incorporate more cola syrup and the distinctive mark of French oak. As the French oak takes control, the fruit tones become more subdued.

Finish

The finish is dominated by the strong French oak, which is balanced out by notes of pepper, vegetative tones, and a subtle sweetness of black currants. It has a mild tannic oakness and a slight ramp up of heat. The aftertaste is slightly dry.

Overall

Blue Note Las Notas is a bold and unique bourbon with a strong French oak backbone. The integration of the wine finish in this bourbon is well done and provides a nice balance of the rich and intense French oak profile. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re up for a bold and beautiful bourbon!
