Bringing together high proof and high age to create a robust, memorable bourbon is what George T. Stagg is known for, and the 2023 release delivers in spades. The Stagg name in bourbon means different things to different people, but brings a high-proof bourbon from Buffalo Trace. The last two releases of George T. Stagg came in at very similar ages, with the 2023 release sporting a 15 year, 3 month age.
The sip opens with well integrated aged scents, that are kept in check considering the bourbon’s high proof. Deep scents of blackstrap molasses and dark honey can be detected, with a distinct scent of raisin shining through. The midpoint carries through these aged notes with that same raisin note leading the charge of classic flavors. Ending on notes of dark fruits, barrel char, and rye spice among others, the bourbon ends with a chewy finish that nicely caps off the sip.
The 2023 release of George T. Stagg has everything needed to hit the sweet spot of a high proof, high aged bourbon. It sticks the landing from start to finish, and thankfully it never pushes its proof so hard that it makes you want to not go back for more. It stands out as this year’s king of the BTAC pack. While they are often impossible to find at or near MSRP, more often than not you can seek out a special pour at a higher end whiskey bar. If you can only try one pour from the Antique Collection this year, a pour of this year’s George T. Stagg is well worth your hard earned money.

Le SC Bastia a enregistré sa première victoire à domicile de la saison en venant à bout du Paris FC, samedi soir, sur le score de 2 à 0. La partie a été globalement dominée par les hommes de Mathieu Chabert, méritants et efficaces. L’entraîneur bastiais a d’ailleurs salué le travail réalisé par ses joueurs.
“Ce fut un match assez compliqué. Nous avons été bons en première mi-temps et plus en difficulté après la pause car l’équilibre de l’équipe a été remis en cause. La clé de ce succès est dans l’organisation et la discipline démontrées par mes joueurs. Nous avons été solides défensivement, grâce à un bloc en place, et percutants offensivement. Nous avons obtenu un pénalty et c’est tant mieux car cela nous manquait ces dernières semaines. Mais je regrette les nombreuses opportunités ratées, qui nous auraient permis de poursuivre notre progression.” a-t-il analysé.
Un état d’esprit retrouvé qui laisse présager une saison intéressante pour le #SCB . Prochain rendez-vous prévu samedi après-midi (15 h), à l’occasion d’un déplacement en Seine-et-Marne pour y défier Créteil Lusitanos.
