Bluebird Days Whiskey

Bluebird Distilling is located in Phoenixville, PA, and they specialize in creating bourbon and wheat whiskeys. Their latest product is Bluebird Days Whiskey, a blend of the two products which they proudly label as a “straight whiskey”. To find out how it stands up, I decided to give it a try.

Nose

I picked up creamed corn, cotton candy, bubble gum, light oak and other notes that pull this whiskey in different directions. It’s a fun start to the whiskey, and there is definitely a lot of complexity here.

Palate

On the palate, I experienced sweet caramel, a malty undertone, grain-forwardness, and a slightly underdeveloped character that still has some heat, but is thin.

Finish

The finish is composed of light spice, grain-forwardness, and a hint of caramel that comes together crisply and wraps up the whiskey nicely.

Overall

I think Bluebird Distilling had a unique idea in creating Bluebird Days Whiskey. Combining bourbons and wheats makes for a very complex whiskey, but for me it didn’t quite hit the mark. Its underdeveloped character is apparent, and it’s quite thin for a craft whiskey. The price is still quite reasonable given its age and craft origins, but unfortunately I doubt I’ll be buying it again.

  1. Bluebird Days Whiskey seems like a unique and complex blend, but it may not appeal to everyone’s taste. Its underdeveloped character and thinness may not live up to the expectations of a craft whiskey. However, the price and craft origins make it worth a try.

  2. Bluebird Days Whiskey from Bluebird Distilling may have a fun and unique concept with its blend of bourbon and wheat, but it seems to fall short in terms of flavor and complexity. While it may be reasonably priced and created with care, there are better craft whiskeys out there on the market.
