World Whiskey Society 6 Year Straight Bourbon Finished in Rum Cask

The nose of this whiskey is full of complex rum flavors dominating the traditional aromas of a wheated bourbon. Rich notes of molasses, syrup soaked raisins, brown sugar and light oak are present, hinting at the rum finish.

Palate

The palate of this whiskey is fascinating with the different layers of complexity. Leathery notes blend with white peppercorn and brown sugar. Oily syrup soaked raisins and fresh holiday bread create an enjoyable mix, finishing off with summer fruits. It is interesting to note that these flavors come out despite the heavy rum influence.

Finish

The finish of this whiskey doesn’t leave you wanting more. Light molasses and fresh baked bread hit you first, followed by raisins, leather and light charred oak. The finish is relatively short, but not lacking in flavor.

Overall

World Whiskey Society 6 Year Straight Bourbon Finished in Rum Cask is a great example of high-wheat whiskey finished in a rum barrel. The flavor balance between the rum notes and the wheat whiskey presence makes for an enjoyable beverage. This limited-edition bottle is definitely one you won’t want to miss
