This initial release features a 5 year old bourbon finished in port wine barrels, a 5 year old 100% rye finished in cabernet franc barrels, and a 5 year old bourbon finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry barrels. This sherry barrel finish straight bourbon doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but instead offers a delicately layered fruit forward whiskey that is sure to be enjoyed by most.
Nose
The nose is on the sweet and fruity side, with candied cherries, strawberries, and raspberries being present along with an interesting root beer back side.
Palate
The palate nicely layers black raspberries and raisin notes followed by light pecan and sweet oak.
Finish
The finish showcases the bourbon’s 36% rye mashbill with rye spice present before transitioning to leather, tobacco leaf, and milk chocolate.
