Talnua Peated Cask Whiskey Review

Talnua differentiates itself in the American whiskey space by producing single pot still American whiskey. In the world of Irish whiskey, a single pot still whiskey means that the whiskey is distilled in a pot still by a single distillery from a mixed mash of malted and unmalted barley. Talnua uses the same 50% unmalted barley, 50% malted barley mashbill for all of their whiskeys.

Nose

Peated Cask has a nose of: Peat, Malt grain, Summer fruit, and Light.

Palate

The palate reveals a malty undertone, peat, light spice, smoke, and a touch of apple.

Finish

The finish is quite enjoyable with a hint of chocolate, light peat, malty, and a touch of concentrated sugar on the backend.

Overall

Talnua Peated Cask will please those who enjoy a light, malt-forward peated whiskey, and ultimately shows promise for what is yet to come with more age.
