15 Stars First West Fine Aged Rye

15 Stars brings an exciting blend of three different aged rye whiskeys from three different states. With such an ambitious project, we were eager to see how it turned out.

Nose

Rich rye grain and floral undertones lead on the nose, highlighting strong notes of lavender and green apple.

Palate

The palate is a flavor medley of cinnamon, nougat, honeycomb, sweet pastry bread and lemon.

Finish

The finish leaves the drinker with strong barrel char, dry oak, tobacco leaf and nutmeg.

Overall

Though we feel 15 Stars First West Fine Aged Rye doesn’t reach its full potential, the blend still offers a unique flavor profile unlike your typical rye whiskey. The aroma is strong of rye grain with floral undertones, while the palate continues to surprise with a range of tastes from sweet pastry to cinnamon and lemon. The finish is traditional in nature, giving notes of barrel char and dry oak. All in all, we feel this is a nice addition to 15 Stars’ portfolio, and the price is spot-on for what it offers
