Keeper’s Heart Irish + Bourbon Review

Keeper’s Heart Whiskey was created by cousins Patrick and Michael O’Shaughnessy, along with Michael’s father Gerry. The three founders created O’Shaughnessy Distillery, which was built in an old potato factory in their hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota and features three copper pot stills. Irish + Bourbon is the family’s attempt to combine two unlikely whiskey styles. At $35, it’s a decent deal for a unique tasting whiskey.

Nose

Caramel | Malt | Nutty undertone | Citrus | Light

Palate

Vanilla | Caramel | Earthy base | Fresh cut grass | Baking spices | Stone fruit | Sweet

Finish

Light cocoa | Caramel | Baking spices | Smoke | Medium length

Overall Impression

Irish + Bourbon leans more on its Irish whiskey base, but complementary bourbon notes add depth and interest to this unusual combination of whiskey styles. It actually comes together fairly well and suggests there’s a place for this type of combination that’s worth further exploration. However, its presumed reliance on its Irish component may be a stretch for more traditional bourbon drinkers.

  1. “Keeper’s Heart Irish + Bourbon offers a unique blend of two whiskey styles that may appeal to those looking for something new to try. While its Irish whiskey base shines through, the addition of bourbon notes adds depth and complexity to this unusual combination. However, it may not be for everyone, particularly traditional bourbon drinkers.”

  2. I think Keeper’s Heart Irish + Bourbon is a unique and interesting take on combining two different whiskey styles. With its caramel, vanilla, and baking spice notes, it offers a complex and enjoyable drinking experience. However, it may not be for everyone, especially for those who prefer a more traditional bourbon taste. Overall, I would recommend giving it a try for its uniqueness and quality taste at a reasonable price.
