Tommyrotter Napa Valley Heritance Cask

Tommyrotter Distillery honors the industrious spirit of the Tommyrotters’ Club with their small batch spirits. Their Napa Valley Heritance Cask, which is composed of three straight bourbons finished in Taub Family Selections’ Heritance Cabernet Sauvignon French oak barrels, does not fail to deliver.

Nose

The nose of this whiskey is inviting, filled with delicious aroma of raisins, dark fruit, black cherry, and plum. It has good intensity, but not too overpowering.

Palate

The palate has a great mix of flavors, including plum, warm spice, vanilla, seasoned oak, and a hint of burnt brown sugar. The flavors come together nicely and give the whiskey a good complexity.

Finish

The finish has a nice combination of prune, leather, and a slightly dry character. It has a decent length and intensity.

Overall

Don’t overlook this “yet another wine-finished bourbon”, as Tommyrotter manages to get it right where so many others fail. It offers a unique flavor profile and its delicate sweetness and fullness of flavor make it an enjoyable pour. Though it would benefit from more complexity and age, it’s hard to argue against what it gets right
