Very Olde Saint Nick Winter Maple Rye Whiskey Review

Nose

On the nose, Very Olde Saint Nick Winter Maple Rye Whiskey brings a mix of buttered cornbread, baking spices, maple syrup, raisin, and a balanced sweetness.

Palate

The palate lifts up further notes, with maple syrup being the most prominent. Rye spice, animal crackers, and a very sweet profile provide support, while everything comes together in a cohesive and thick mouthfeel.

Finish

The maple syrup base from the palate continues onto the finish, supplemented by toasted marshmallow, brown sugar, and a light spice on the backend. It all works together nicely and stays on the tongue for a long and sweet time.

Overall

Very Olde Saint Nick Winter Maple Rye is a successful attempt at layering natural flavors onto a Canadian rye whiskey base. It’s sweet and cohesive, but definitely demands quite a high price for what it is.  At nearly $180, it’s an expensive purchase for a flavored whiskey, but if you can afford it it’s a nice bottle to have.
