Wyoming Whiskey Celebrates 10 Years of Crafting Quality Spirits

2020 marks the 10-year anniversary for Wyoming Whiskey, a craft whiskey maker based in Kirby, Wyoming. Founded in 2010 by David DeFazio and his wife, MaryAnn, Wyoming Whiskey has grown from a passion project to a nationally-recognized distiller of high-quality spirits. To commemorate its 10th anniversary, the distillery is launching several new initiatives and offering special whiskey and merchandise giveaways.

Founding Wyoming Whiskey

David DeFazio was a Wyoming native whose family had been in the state for generations. Growing up, he knew he wanted to do something to give back to his community and honor the state’s history. After a long career in farming, gas and oil production, and real estate development, David and MaryAnn decided to make the leap and start Wyoming Whiskey.

Their goal was to make a product that spoke to the unique character of the people and place of Wyoming. With the help of their daughter, Kate, they scoured the rolling hills of the Bighorn Basin for the perfect place to create their new distillery. In Kirby, they found just what they were looking for: an old schoolhouse and a set of Spanish-style adobe buildings that could become the perfect whiskey distillery.

10 Year Journey from Seed to Spirit

After several years of hard work, Wyoming Whiskey founder and master distiller David DeFazio brewed and barreled his first batch of whiskey in 2010.

From that day forward, Wyoming Whiskey has been dedicated to producing the highest-quality spirits with innovation, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the land and people of Wyoming. Every batch of whiskey is made using locally-sourced, non-GMO heirloom grains sourced from family-owned farms in the area. While the grains are the same, no two batches of the whiskey are ever the same – each has its own unique flavor, color, texture, and character.

Celebrating 10 Years of Quality Whiskey

Starting in May, fans can visit the distillery’s tasting room for an exclusive 10th anniversary release.

To further celebrate the milestone, Wyoming Whiskey has released a limited edition bottle, complete with a custom label featuring an image of the distillery and the surrounding Bighorn Basin.

A Positive Impact on Wyoming and Beyond

Since its founding 10 years ago, Wyoming Whiskey has created over 10 jobs and has had a positive impact on the local economy. The business has also made significant investments in energy efficiency, now operating the only energy-positive whiskey distillation system in the country.

The company has also made an effort to give back to the local community with volunteer initiatives and charitable donations. From supporting local farmers to supplying clean drinking water to rural communities, Wyoming Whiskey is making a positive impact beyond its whiskey-making operations.
