Log Still Distillery Revives Generations-Old Whiskey Recipe

Log Still Distillery has just released a new spirit that honors the generations-old whiskey recipes of Kentucky’s oldest distilleries. The small-batch spirit is crafted from three types of corn, rye, and malted barley, and aged in charred oak barrels for a traditional flavor. The distinctly smooth whiskey has quickly earned a loyal following and is sure to be a hit among whiskey lovers.

History of Log Still Distillery

Log Still Distillery, located in Kentucky, was founded in 1871, and is proud to be the oldest continuously operational craft distillery in the state. The distillery is dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the region’s historic whiskey-making traditions. They seek to craft each spirit with a unique and distinctive flavor that honors the heritage of Kentucky’s oldest distilleries.

The Making Of Log Still Whiskey

The process of making Log Still Whiskey begins with the selection of the finest grain. Three non-GMO varieties of corn are used, in addition to rye, malted barley, and hop varietals. The grains are milled, mashed, and fermented before being distilled in copper stills and run through a charcoal filtration process. The whiskey is then aged in charred white oak whiskey barrels in the distillery’s rackhouse, giving it a distinct flavor and aroma.

Tasting Notes From Log Still Distillery

According to Log Still Distillery, their whiskey has a “smooth, light and clean” palate, with notes of caramel, toasted grain, and oak. The whiskey is described as having a “mild, easy-drinking finish”, with a hint of spice.

Partnering With The Old-Fashioned Whiskey Guild

Log Still Distillery is proud to partner with the Old-Fashioned Whiskey Guild, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic distilling practices. As part of the partnership, Log Still will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of its whiskey to support the Guild’s efforts.

A Tribute To The Heritage Of Kentucky Whiskey

By releasing this unique spirit, Log Still Distillery honors the traditional recipes and distilling techniques of Kentucky’s oldest distilleries. The distillery looks forward to partnering with the Old-Fashioned Whiskey Guild to help preserve the legacy of Kentucky whiskey. Their new whiskey is sure to be a hit among whiskey lovers, offering a unique and distinctly smooth flavor
