Quincy Street Distillery, located in Chicago, Illinois, is proud to release 9yo North American Steamship Rye™ Illinois Bottled in Bond straight single malt whiskey. The History Behind the Steamship Rye™ Illinois Whiskey
During the 19th century, the North American Steamship Corporation used to operate steamboats that shuttled goods and cargo up and down the Mississippi River on the famous “Cotton Route” from St. Louis, Missouri to New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2014, Quincy Street Distillery released their first whiskey, along with the story of the original Steamship Corporation, and set out to revive the history and namesake of the steamships with this special whiskey.
Bottled in Bond Single Malt Whiskey
In order to meet the legal requirements for Bottled in Bond whiskey, this 9yo North American Steamship Rye™ from Quincy Street Distillery is made from 100% rye grain, aged for at least four years in new charred American oak barrels, and bottled at a minimum of 100 proof. This whiskey has a smooth taste and a long finish.
Tasting Notes
Upon tasting, this whiskey has a smooth flavor with notes of oak, spice, and caramel. On the finish, a pleasant amount of heat lingers on the tongue. This whiskey is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a decadent cocktail.
