Nose
I was greeted with a light citrus and tropical fruit aroma, followed by a note of coconut and a hint of anise.
Palate
When tasting, I found notes of caramel chews, vanilla custard, gingerbread, caramel and rye spice in the background.
Finish
The rye spice came through strongly on the finish along with creme brulee, brown sugar and a sweet, long finish.
Overall
The Oak Collection is a dynamic blend of fruity and sweet flavors against the flagship blend’s more forward rye spice. The aroma and palate are a delight and the finish is a rush of complex flavors. The price for this rye is perfect, making it an excellent whiskey that I highly recommend.
