The winter 2023 Distillery Series of Woodford Reserve is bringing back a fan favorite; the Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Distilled in the heart of Kentucky, Double Double Oaked is a unique expression of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that has an intense bouquet of dark chocolate, caramel, honey, and spices.
Double Double Oaked Process
The process for making Double Double Oaked starts with two toasted oak barrels. The first is a virgin barrel made of heavily toasted American white oak, while the second is a medium-toasted American white oak barrel. Each barrel is filled with Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, aged six to eight years.
The bourbon is then transferred back and forth between the two barrels eight times. This double barrel aging process adds complexity to this whiskey, resulting in a deep mahogany color and a mellow, tawny-like construction.
