Jack Daniel’s Expands Internationally with New American Single Malt Whiskey

Jack Daniel’s Goes Global with New American Single Malt Whiskey

Jack Daniel’s, the iconic Tennesse whiskey brand, isn’t afraid to try something new. Last week, the distillery announced they’d be releasing a new American single malt whiskey called Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Heritage Edition. It’s the first-ever export of Jack Daniel’s whiskey outside of the United States.

Distillery History

Jack Daniel’s is one of the oldest and most enduring distilleries in the world. The whiskey is made in Lynchburg, Tennessee and has been operating since 1867. It’s also the oldest registered distillery in the US. Jack Daniel’s has always been an American whiskey but the Single Barrel Heritage Edition is its first foray into the global whiskey market.

Maturation Process

The Single Barrel Heritage Edition was matured in new American oak barrels for up to nine years. During this time the whiskey takes on the distinctive flavors from the wood, as well as from the grain and other natural ingredients.

The barrels are made from white oak with a #4 char, which is one of the heaviest char levels used in whiskey maturation. This deep char gives the whiskey a unique flavor and aroma.

Unique Aromas and Taste

The Single Barrel Heritage Edition is bottled at 50% alcohol by volume, which is a few points higher than the standard Jack Daniel’s whiskey. This indicates the high level of care taken in making the whiskey, as well as the complexity of flavors and aromas.

Jack Daniels has described the single malt whiskey as having aromas of dried fruits, toasted oak, caramel, and smoky notes. The taste is said to be intense and complex with notes of vanilla, toasted oak, citrus, and baking spices.

Global Release

The Single Barrel Heritage Edition is now available in select markets around the world. The UK is the first country to debut the spirit, with other countries such as Japan, Australia, and Germany soon to follow.

The whiskey has been enthusiastically embraced by industry experts and whiskey fans alike and it looks like Jack Daniel’s is here to stay on the global whiskey scene.

Final Thoughts

Jack Daniel’s is an iconic American whiskey, and now it’s taking its place on the global stage. The Single Barrel Heritage Edition is a unique and complex whiskey – one that whiskey fans around the world are sure to enjoy
