The Beginning
It all started with a dream. More than a century ago, a man named Henry Kraver founded the Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company in Henderson, Kentucky. His aim was to produce the finest bourbon in the world, but his dream was cut short by Prohibition. The distillery closed down, and it seemed like the dream was over.
Fast forward to 2014, and Henry Kraver’s great-grandson, Corky Taylor, was inspired to pick up where his ancestor had left off. He wanted to bring back the Peerless legacy and produce the best bourbon in the world once again.
The Challenge
But it wasn’t going to be an easy task. There were already countless established bourbon brands and distilleries in Kentucky, and entering the market would mean competing with giants like Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark.
So instead of taking the path of least resistance, Peerless decided to take the path of most resistance. They decided not to follow the traditional methods of bourbon making that had been passed down for generations in Kentucky. Instead, they decided to do something different.
Innovative Process
Peerless decided to use a state-of-the-art distillery system that was completely unique. They invested in a copper pot still, a column still, and a custom-built cook system. They even decided to age their bourbon in a non-traditional warehouse that was built to their exact specifications.
The result was a bourbon that was like no other. Peerless’s bourbon was smoother, richer, and more flavorful than anything else on the market. It wasn’t just another bourbon—it was a work of art.
The Recognition
Peerless’s gamble paid off. The bourbon market took notice of their innovative process and unique product, and Peerless’s bourbon quickly gained a cult following. In 2019, Peerless was named “Craft Producer of the Year” by Whisky Magazine, cementing their status as one of the premier bourbon producers in the world.
The Future
Peerless continues to be a trailblazer in the bourbon industry. They continue to innovate and experiment with their bourbon-making process, and they’re constantly pushing themselves to take the path of most resistance. Their dedication to quality and innovation has made them one of the most respected bourbon producers in the world, and they’re not about to slow down anytime soon.
The Legacy
Henry Kraver’s dream lives on through the Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company. The path was a difficult one, but Peerless’s dedication to innovation and quality has paid off in spades. They’ve proven that sometimes, taking the path of most resistance is the best way to achieve greatness.
