What is Bottled-in-Bond?

Bottled-in-Bond, or BiB, is a term used to describe whiskey that is barrel-aged for a minimum of four years, and bottled at a minimum of 100 proof (50% ABV). In order for a whiskey to be labeled as “bottled-in-bond”, it must also meet several other strict requirements, including being distilled and bottled at the same distillery, in the same calendar year.

Unbent Distilling’s Straight Rye (Bottled-In-Bond) whiskey is only the second rye whiskey to ever be bottled in bond. The other is Old Overholt, distilled in Pennsylvania.
