Utah Whiskey Makers Celebrate Repeal Day

Bonneville Bourbon Wins Top Prize

Bonneville Bourbon, crafted by Salt Flats Spirits, has earned the prestigious gold medal in the USA Spirits Ratings competition, as reported by Forbes.

This award-winning whiskey, named for the vast Bonneville Salt Flats, boasts a distinct aroma of sweet vanilla, toasted caramel, and ripe orchard fruits, with subtle undertones of charred oak.

The head distiller of Salt Flats Spirits, Trent Moore, explained the vision behind Bonneville Bourbon: “I aimed to create a whiskey that stood out from the norm, offering a balance of flavor and approachability for both whiskey enthusiasts and novices.”

Its unique flavor profile is attributed to a specific blend of aged barrels and the use of rolled oats in the mash bill, which adds body and a hint of berry character.

High West Releases New Single Malt: High Country

High West Distillery, based in Park City, has introduced High Country, a new American single-malt whiskey. Inspired by Scottish single malts, High Country is a blend of copper pot-distilled whiskeys aged for varying periods of three to ten years in the Wasatch Mountains.

This multilayered whiskey greets the palate with warm aromas of pastries, bananas Foster, and white grape jelly. Its flavors evolve with notes of honeydew melon, praline, and tobacco, leading to a smooth finish of vanilla cream and maple syrup.

Dented Brick Distillery Unveils Chardonnay Barrel Rested Straight Rye Whiskey

Dented Brick Distillery in South Salt Lake presents their latest creation: Chardonnay Barrel Rested Straight Rye Whiskey. This single-batch spirit is aged for two years in new American oak barrels, followed by an additional 18 months of resting in a used chardonnay barrel from Idaho’s Hell’s Canyon Winery.

The result is a unique blend of the robust flavors of rye whiskey with subtle hints of chardonnay. Each bottle bears handwritten notes detailing the barrel type and production date, adding a special touch to this limited-edition offering.

These exceptional Utah-made whiskeys offer a diverse range of flavor profiles to celebrate Repeal Day, honoring the end of Prohibition and the return of Americans’ right to indulge in a lawful drink.
