Puncher’s Chance Bourbon – The Left Cross: A Rich and Complex Finish

The Left Cross, the second limited edition release under Puncher’s Chance Bourbon by Wolf Spirit, features a Jamaican dark rum barrel finish that imparts its distinctive flavors. With its unique rum-forward combination of aromas, palates and finishes, The Left Cross is set to be a crowd pleaser for rum-flavored whiskey lovers.

Nose

The Left Cross gives off a complex blend of aromas, including wet oak, molasses, raisins, rum cake, an undertone of caramel, and a dash of vanilla bean. Each element combines to give off a very unique and recognizable fragrance.

Palate

The combination of aromas carries over to the palate, which features molasses, a chewy caramel flavor, heavy rum raisin ice cream, aged tannic wet oak, leather, light white peppercorn, and heavy rum finish influence. The rum flavor really stands out and is both powerful and captivating.

Finish

The left cross ends with a rum-forward finish. It features notes of dry oak, leather, rye spice, spiced raisins, earthy tones, and a rum-heavy aftertaste.

Overall

The Left Cross is a unique whiskey that delivers on its promise of rum flavors. With its high-age and Jamaican dark rum casks, it can border on the edge of being too much, but manages to strike a balance of depth and flavor. However, with its high price, it is best suited for the whiskey drinker who is committed to their love of rum-flavored whiskeys.
