Starlight Old Rickhouse Double Oaked Rye

Starlight Distillery have been sourcing and crafting the finest spirits for over 173 years. Their Double Oaked Rye is a testament to their commitment that they take to the craft and the result is a whiskey that is absolutely one of a kind.

Nose

As soon as you crack open the bottle, the room is filled with aromas of pear, rye spices, clove, seasoned oak and a hint of leather.

Palate

When tasting the rye, you get a good sense of the creamy caramel undertone mixed with the chewing leather and apricot notes. And the taste is sweet and full with a thick mouthfeel. The rye spice continues to play a prominent role, but there’s a light grain note throughout that brings a nice level of complexity.

Finish

The whiskey’s long finish will keep you coming back for more. After the last sip you’ll find lingering notes of white grapes, a hint of oak, and the intense rye spice.

Uniqueness

What makes this whiskey unique is the double barrel aging process. Transferring the whiskey to new, 53 gallon barrels for 5 months gives it a sophistication and character that’s not found in many other whiskeys.

Value

Starlight Old Rickhouse Double Oaked Rye whiskey is a great value. At its proofpoint it offers excellent complexity and flavors, while still keeping the price low.

Overall

Starlight Old Rickhouse Double Oaked Rye whiskey is a true testament to the expertise of the Starlight Distillery team. With the combination of rye spice, sweet, and subtle grain notes, this whiskey stands out with its complexity and flavor. Its double oaked aging process is something special and its price point makes it an excellent value

I recently tried this whiskey and was blown away by its complexity and flavor. The double oaked aging process adds a unique depth to the rye, and the hints of pear, leather, and spice all come together for a truly enjoyable experience. This is definitely a whiskey worth trying.
